We are selling a BizFon 680 phone system with 6 phones and an expansion card.
The system was used in our office from May of 2002 through March of 2006. We paid about $2,300 for it as a whole.
Brief sales pitch: while the increasing availability of open source phone systems is bringing down the cost of deploying a powerful phone system, we still find that the costs of a new small/mid-size office phone system that just works out-of-the-box can be at least $2,000 and often more once you throw in phones and other needed accessories. When we researched the options in 2002, the BizFon was a clear winner based on price and features, and we think it could still serve a small organization or household well.
This package includes the following items:
- One (1) BizFon 680 Control Unit. It supports up to six telephone lines to a total of eight physical extensions and fifteen virtual extensions.
- Wall mount attachment for the Control Unit
- One (1) VoiceVault expansion card, which provides the support needed for the virtual extensions, adds voicemail storage space, and some other added functionality
- One (1) BizTouch3 Operator phone console with power supply and phone cord
- Five (5) BizTouch2 Standard phone consoles with power supplies and phone cords
- Various manuals and feature reference cards (also available online for re-printing)
- If you plan to install the system in the Richmond/Wayne County, Indiana area, the package may also include delivery and basic initial consultation on how to start setting the system up.
The phone system is very full featured and flexible. Some notable capabilities:
- Easy to setup - plug in your phone lines, plug in your phones, do some basic configuration, and you're ready to use the system.
- Voice Mail with private mailboxes and user-friendly automated attendant are built-in
- Allows you to mix BizTouch branded phones with conventional analog, corded and cordless phones
- Enables users to forward their extension to other extensions or to remote telephone numbers (such as a cell phone or home office), creating many kinds of "virtual office" possibilities
- Supports remote paging so you can be notified of new voicemail messages
- Has a "conference room" extension that allows you to host conference calls
- We used the system successfully with 6 extensions, a conference room phone, and fax extension. It helpfully route callers to our sales and technical support staff, and was easy for our employees to understand and use.
About the condition of the system we're selling:
- All of the phones and the control unit itself are in good condition - no physical damage and only normal wear and tear in terms of dust, scratches, etc. We've taken good care of them and they're packaged up carefully.
- In February of 2006, we were told by the BizFon customer service department that our control unit is no longer accessible to them for the purpose of "logging in" and managing our system settings. They indicated that this could be because of a failure of the control unit's underlying filesystem, and that it could stop working at any point. While we experienced occasional oddities with the systems` operation (e.g. time/date resets every few months, temporary problems with forwarding some calls), it continued to work just fine. So, the system could continue operating normally for years to come, or it may fail at any point. As a part of this offer, we do not warrant that the control unit will be usable in any form or will last for any period of time. BizFon indicated that we could have the control unit replaced with a refurbished version for $500, or with a new version (with the same functionality) for $1,000. That offer may or may not be available to you from BizFon if you buy this system, check with them first.
- The system no longer has any warranty or other form of service agreement with BizFon. Summersault makes no guarantees about the usability of the system or any of its components, or its suitability for any particular purpose.
Asking Price: $500 for the complete package, or best offer. We would be willing to sell the phones as a separate package from the control unit, but we would prefer not to sell individual phones beyond that.
