How can I check my e-mail account through the web?

If your e-mail account is hosted by Summersault, you can use our webmail system for checking your mail on the web.

If you are using Summersault's conventional hosting infrastructure (setup prior to June 2007):

  1. Visit https://webmail.summersault.com/
  2. Enter your e-mail address and password, and click "Login"
  3. You'll be taken to the Inbox screen for your account.

If you are using Summersault's new control-panel based hosting infrastructure (setup after May 2007):

  1. Visit http://www.yoursite.com/webmail, where "yoursite.com" is replaced with the domain name of your account hosted at Summersault.
  2. When prompted, Enter your full e-mail address and the password associated with that account.  (Do NOT just enter the cpanel username assigned to your account - use your full address.)
  3. You'll be taken to a page indicating you are logged in.  Click on the icon that says "Read Mail Using SquirrelMail," and you'll be taken to the Inbox screen for your account.

You can also use third party services like Mail2Web.

Note that if you use the webmail interface, mail that you send from this system, and mail that you save into folders you create, will not be available from a desktop e-mail program like Outlook or Apple Mail that uses the POP protocol to check mail. Webmail is generally intended to serve as a temporary alternative to a full-featured desktop mail program, not as a primary mail reading software package.

Also note that the webmail interface has a "timeout" that will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity. This makes it difficult to compose long messages in the webmail interface itself, as there's a chance that when you finally hit "send," you will be asked to log in and your message will be lost. We recommend composing any longer messages in a separate text editor, and then pasting them into the webmail program when you're ready to send.
